About Us
Fabrilish is run by one person: me, Gabi. The enthusiastic owner, operator, fabric cutter, etcetera, and creative mind connecting people with delicious fabrics.
Before fabric, I was a banker in Germany, then a financial advisor here in the US after I moved in 1996. When the financial crisis hit, I was laid off. Then, in 2012, I lost my husband and needed a way to support myself. I started hand-dyeing fabric and selling it at quilt shows.
Hand-dyeing everything myself was too labor-intensive to keep up with demand, so I went looking for something just as special. That is how I found Australian Aboriginal fabrics. Commercially made, but truly unlike anything else on the market. I fell in love, and so did my customers.
Fabrilish.com itself is a child of COVID. When in-person quilt shows shut down in March 2020, I built this store from scratch and launched it a month later. It has been growing ever since.
What I love most is matching fabrics and colors that sing together, and connecting you with fabric that tells a story. I carry M&S Textiles because their current owners take fair treatment of Aboriginal artists seriously and credit each designer by name. I will not sell inferior fabric. Full stop.
Thousands of fabulous quilters and sewists have trusted Fabrilish since 2013. I would love for you to join us.
Thank you for being here, and happy creating. It keeps us all sane.
