Bush Plum and Waterhole Black - Designed by June Bird
June Bird was born ca 1955 at Mulga Bore in Utopia. She is a talented Aboriginal artist.
An important part of women's role in traditional Aboriginal culture is to collect bush foods like beans, apples, tomatoes, cherries etc in a wooden bowl called coolamon. Yams are also collected by digging into the soil with digging sticks. June skillfully depicted the fallen bush plums on the ground and walking paths all around for the collectors of bush plums an other fruits. They eat the plums and make beautiful dough for tasty breads
